Tips For Choosing Your Bathroom Fixtures
By Robert Mingus - Ezinerticles

If you're planning on renovating an older bathroom, or building a new one, one of the biggest decisions you'll have to make is what type of bathroom fixtures to use. There are more options than ever, at a huge range of prices. Let's look at some of the things you'll have to consider.

First, you'll need to decide what style of bathroom you want. Do you want an antique decor, with fixtures that are designed to look like something you would have had 50, 60, maybe even 100 years ago? Or do you want a modern look, with all the latest styles of fixtures? This decision is going to narrow down your choices a great deal right off the bat.

The next decision you'll have to make is what fixtures you actually want. Do you want a claw-foot tub with a separate shower stall? Or a standard bath/shower combination? What about the sink - are you going to choose a modern vanity or a pedestal sink, with separate cupboards and shelves for storage?

Some fixtures are purely optional, such as a bidet. These aren't all that common in North America, but they are becoming more evident as people design their bathrooms to be as much about form as function.

You might also want to go more upmarket with your bathroom fixtures, say by installing a spa-like shower. Rain shower heads and multi-head showers are very popular these days. They can add quite a bit to the cost, but if you want a unique bathroom where you can relax and enjoy some alone time, it might be worth the cost.

Speaking of cost, your budget is another decision you'll need to make. If you don't have a budget in mind, it's easy to overspend on your bathroom fixtures. While you might want all the best equipment, the cost might not be quite so attractive. Make sure you know what you can justify spending before you set out to find all the fixtures you want.

If you do some planning and research ahead of time, and have some idea of what you want at least, it will save you time, money and hassle when you're doing your shopping. Now get out there and pick those bathroom fixtures!
