In the past, women did most of the planning when it came to the big event, and women benefited from the pre-ceremony shower. She received household and personal gifts on behalf of her future husband and herself. Increasingly, people started noticing how the groom tends to be left out of these. In an effort to include the groom, the "man shower" idea was born.
